After we landed in shanghai we went to go to the bathroom, and change Ruby's diaper and clothes. And we were the last people in that area of the airport! After a little bit a security guard came and told us to hurry up. Because by that point it was about 1:30 or 2:00 in the morning. Because we took so long there was no wait to go through security. Actually there wasn't really any securityy. but there were some security guards and police all talking and I think that's when it really hit me and it just got real, I all most started to just cry right there on the spot. I was thinking, "What the crap! Why am I in flipping Shanghai?!" I was not very happy about it at all.
This is Ruby's real reaction to the fish. Probably my favorite picture!
Then we went back to our apartment and just relaxed.
After we had some time to relax, the Elder's Quorum President came over with his 5 year old son. Peter was pretty excited to meet a new friend. He brought us some essential grocery's that we didn't even think to get at the store.
After he left we decided to watch Kung Fu Panda and get dumplings. My dad's co worker ordered us some and had them come to the apartment. It was fun, but they defiantly weren't the best dumplings. So my mom made some mac and cheese.
I don't remember what time it was by this point but Ruby was exhausted. All of us were. We were trying to stay up as long as we could to avoid waking up in the middle of the night.
Eventually all of the kids fell asleep.
It was an awesome first day in China! The view from our window is amazing, and much more colorful than in this picture.
I started out thinking that I was going to hate China, but at the end of the day I love it here. I am surprised by how fun and exciting it is here! I am so glad and thankful that we got the opportunity to come to china!!!
Then we went to get all of our luggage and we had a LOT of it! It took a while but we finally got all of it. My dads co workers William and Brian came to pick us up and it was 1:30 in the morning! They drove us to our apartment and lets just say it looked nicer in the pictures. When we got there I was just a little bit, actually a lot depressed. you can see me laying down on the chair. I didn't want to do anything I just wanted to lay down and sleep

The next day we were all feeling a lot better about everything.
We started our adventure.
First we had to go and get water bottles at our little corner market. You can't drink the tap water here.
Then we headed to the Metro station. (that's what they call the subway) All of the kids, (including me) were pretty excited to get our own subway cards. We also liked getting to stand up on the train.
By that point we were all pretty hungry because all we had at home was left over snacks from the plane. So we went and got some scallion cakes that my dad got the last time he came. It is basically like a fried flat bread with some scallion filling. One of them had meat filling that was pretty good too.
Our next stop was the grocery store, also called Metro. We had to get toilet paper, food, and some water.
This is Ruby's real reaction to the fish. Probably my favorite picture!
And this is her staged reaction.
We saw them cutting up these huge fruits so we decided to buy some.
